Ready To Make A Change?
Revive Your Cabinets With A Refinish
If you're ready to update your kitchen but want to skip the high cost of a full remodel, cabinet refinishing is a great option. A complete kitchen renovation can cost tens of thousands of dollars and take weeks to complete. Cabinet refinishing delivers a dramatic transformation at a fraction of the cost—often 50-70% less than new cabinets—and can be completed in just days.
At Gordon Painting, we bring expert craftsmanship to every cabinet project, ensuring a high-quality finish that looks and feels like new. Whether you're updating dated oak cabinets with a modern white finish, refreshing worn finishes, or completely changing the style of your kitchen, we have the skills and experience to make your vision a reality.
Cabinet Refinishing Options
We offer several refinishing approaches to suit your needs and budget:
- On-Site Painting: We can paint your cabinets right in your kitchen, minimizing disruption and keeping costs down. This works well for most projects and allows you to use your kitchen in the evenings.
- Garage Spray Finishing: For a smoother, factory-like finish, we remove doors and drawers and spray them in our controlled garage environment. This produces exceptional results with minimal overspray concerns in your home.
- Off-Site Refinishing: For the ultimate finish quality, cabinet components can be refinished at our facility. Contact us for availability and details on this premium option.
Cabinet Refinishing
Refinishing your cabinets can either give them a fresh, modern look or simply restore their original charm. If the finish on your cabinets is starting to chip, peel, or wear down, this can lead to damage like wood rot or warping. Refinishing halts this deterioration, extending the life of your cabinets at a fraction of the cost of replacing them. It's an investment that protects your existing cabinets while transforming your space.
Cabinet Painting
Whether you opt for staining to emphasize the wood grain or painting for a wide range of color options, the choice is entirely up to you. Paint offers unlimited color possibilities and covers wood grain completely, while stain enhances natural wood beauty. The cost of painting or staining will depend on your cabinets' details, size, and style. During your free estimate, we'll discuss all options and help you choose the best approach for your goals.
Our Process
- Doors & Hardware Are Removed: We carefully detach the doors and hardware from each cabinet. This gives you the perfect opportunity to update the hardware and complement the refreshed style.
- Surfaces Are Sanded & Prepared: We thoroughly sand all surfaces, using both hand tools and power equipment, to ensure they are properly prepped for a smooth paint or stain application. This step is critical for adhesion and durability.
- Paint/Stain Is Applied To Doors: Depending on your choice of stain or paint, this step may vary. For paint, we apply a premium primer to ensure a durable, long-lasting finish, followed by multiple coats of cabinet-grade paint.
- Paint/Stain Applied To Mounted Cabinets: Next, we apply paint or stain to the cabinet boxes while they remain on the wall, typically using hand rollers or brushes for a smooth, consistent finish.
- Reassemble Cabinets: Once the paint or stain has fully dried and cured, we reassemble the cabinets and hardware, revealing a beautiful, refreshed look that transforms your kitchen.
The Result
A professionally refinished cabinet looks and feels like new—smooth to the touch, uniform in color, and built to withstand daily use for years to come. Your kitchen will have a fresh, updated appearance that increases your home's value and makes the heart of your home a place you're proud to show off.

How much does cabinet refinishing cost compared to new cabinets?
Cabinet refinishing typically costs 50-70% less than new cabinets. While new custom cabinets can cost $15,000-$30,000 or more for an average kitchen, professional refinishing often ranges from $3,000-$8,000 depending on kitchen size, current condition, and finish options.
How long does cabinet refinishing take?
Most cabinet refinishing projects take 3-7 days, depending on the size of your kitchen and the refinishing method. On-site painting takes less time but may span several days to allow for drying between coats. Off-site refinishing may take longer but delivers exceptional results.
Can you change the color of stained wood cabinets to white?
Absolutely! This is one of our most popular requests. With proper preparation—including cleaning, sanding, priming, and painting—we can transform dark stained cabinets into beautiful bright white or any color you choose. The key is thorough prep work for lasting results.
How durable is cabinet paint compared to the original factory finish?
Professional cabinet paint, properly applied, is extremely durable. We use cabinet-grade paints and primers specifically designed for high-touch, high-use surfaces. With proper care, your refinished cabinets will look beautiful for 10-15 years or more.
Should I update my cabinet hardware when refinishing?
Updating hardware is a great complement to cabinet refinishing and can dramatically enhance the final result. Since we remove all hardware during the refinishing process, it's the perfect time to upgrade to new pulls and knobs that match your updated style.
